After you execute the command, the installation and configuration happen on their own, like magic! The MYRMEX Agent (the superhero) will run in the background, protecting your computer without you having to do anything else. It connects to the MYRMEX “cloud” (the superhero headquarters) and keeps an eye out for any threats.
The agent will automatically start whenever your computer boots up, so you don’t need to worry about manually starting it.
The minimum hardware requirements for the Myrmex agent are quite modest, which means it doesn’t need a supercomputer to run:
Processor
Minimum 1 vCPU (think of it as the computer’s “brain”)
Memory
Minimum 1 GB of RAM (think of it as the computer’s “short-term memory”)
Storage
Minimum 10 GB of disk space (this is where all the files are stored)
These requirements apply both to the agent you install directly on your machine (Windows, for example) and to the Linux agent used in API or syslog integrations (which are ways to connect Myrmex to other systems).
Windows Installation
You’ll receive an installation file (MSI) that you double-click to install, like any other program.
The installer will:
Create a Windows service
Configure automatic startup
Set up necessary permissions
Linux Installation
You’ll receive a special file depending on your Linux version:
.rpm for Red Hat, CentOS, Fedora
.deb for Ubuntu, Debian
The package will handle all service configuration automatically.
By following these steps, you’ll have MYRMEX protecting your computer. The installation process is designed to be simple and automated, requiring minimal technical knowledge.
